A Railway Heritage Experience
The Ginger Crunch Cafe, French Rooster Gift Shop, and Art on Track (a gallery showing and selling the work of local artists) are all in the station building and open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm, the cafe opens at 8am.
Our collection of railway artifacts and local railway pictorial exhibition is in a room next to the cafe and can be viewed whenever the cafe is open. When our members are in attendance you can see a display of our working train control tablet machines guiding a train between Helensville and Kaukapakapa.
1881 steam locomotive D170 loaned from Museum of Transport & Technology in Auckland is also on static display at the station.
On weekdays two Kiwirail freight trains usually pass each other and change crews at Helensville between 11am and mid-day..
You can enjoy a break at the Helensville Railway Station during your visit.
